Credit rating agency Moody’s Investors Service on Monday downgraded India’s largest life insurance company, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), to Baa3, from Baa2. The agency has said that the new rating aligns with the credit strength of the government.

New Delhi, May 14 (IANS) Credit ratings agency Moody's Investors Service Monday downgraded the state-run Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to the lowest investment grade, in line with the sovereign ratings, due to the firm's high exposure to government debt.
LIC launches 10-year single premium plan
Life Insurance Corporation of India has launched a non-unit linked single premium insurance plan. The plan, Jeevav Vaibhav, has a ten-year term with a minimum sum assured of Rs 2 lakh.
LIC revises agents` gratuity to Rs 2 lakh
Conceding the long-pending demand from around 11 lakh agents, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has revised the gratuity payable to agents to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 1 lakh earlier. The revised rates will be applicable retrospectively from April 1, 2007.
